Great coaches and military leaders know their teams must train the same way they plan to fight.
Sloppy training? Sloppy behaviors.
Slow practice? Slow execution when it matters.
It always matters!
For those 8pm Warriors aspiring to run a department, division, or business someday, I offer this challenge:
Start acting like it now.
Like it or not, but you’re always training. You’re either training for something special or training yourself to be just like everyone else. What you do today affects who you become tomorrow.
Don’t wait until your best is needed. It’s needed now.
Years before it counted, some of the greatest people I know were leading themselves, pushing their limits, asking, listening, and learning. Some say that success happens when luck meets preparation.
Prepare today.
Even when it doesn’t seem like anyone’s watching, be great.
Your day will come.
Have a preparation night,
Aaron@Biebert

THIS was my greatest take-away from ballet. Those dancers who only went full-out when it was required missed huge opportunities to refine their skills and energy reserves. I was exhausted most of the time during rehearsals because I never marked a piece. EVERY moment was the most important.
Thanks Aaron!
Yes, that’s a great example. Success and achieving dreams isn’t something that happens overnight. It looks like that greatness during ballet has transferred over to later in life.
Thanks for helping me demonstrate my point. :-)
Very true, Aaron. I have long had a motto which reflects your training principle: “Wherever I am, I am there 100%. If I can’t give it my all, I’d rather not be there.”
John, that’s a great motto. It’s also a great reason not spread oneself too thin. I sometimes think I need to take that advice…
Very true. I always heard “you practice the way you will play” long long ago when I was playing sports in high school.
You bet Mark. That’s what I used to hear too from coaches. It’s funny to see, but those who took that advice to heart usually ended up having more success.
Thanks for the comment!
Outstanding words Aaron, good for the soul!
Thanks Scott! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very reminiscent of the ancient Chinese proverb “Dig a well before you are thirsty”
Yes, that’s a great one James!
